Recycled flakes and regrind

A recurring interest among G1 users is printing recycled feedstock — regrind, flakes, and irregular recycled pellets — for sustainability and cost. This note collects what the chats actually report; it is not a validated process guide.
What the chats show
Section titled “What the chats show”- Customers explicitly ask to print from recycled flakes (e.g. recycled HDPE/PLA flakes).
- Contamination vs virgin is a real concern raised by customers: recycled stock can be contaminated/inconsistent compared to virgin material.
- Ginger has explored recycled grades from suppliers (e.g. MCPP / Mitsubishi recycled lines) and km0 / local transparent rPLA sources.
- Flow behaviour differs: Ginger reports “turbulence” on printed walls with a recycled PLA that did not appear with a GF10 grade — i.e. recycled stock can print with a rougher, less consistent wall surface (see Wall turbulence and surface quality).
Practical challenges
