D1 Dryer — setup and first assembly
This guide covers unboxing, assembly, and first-time setup of the D1 pellet dryer. The D1 arrives partially disassembled and packaged in a wooden crate. Assembly requires no special skills but you will need a cordless drill.
Physical description
Section titled “Physical description”The D1 is a compact vertical pellet dryer built on an aluminum profile frame with a sheet-metal enclosure.

What’s in the box
Section titled “What’s in the box”The D1 ships in a wooden crate (OSB board, branded with the Ginger logo in orange). Inside the crate you will find:
- The D1 dryer frame with tank — horizontal on the pallet, wrapped in protective plastic film
- A cardboard accessories box containing:
- Red blower module (wrapped in bubble wrap)
- Grey corrugated outlet tube (pre-bent, approximately 1 m)
- Power cable (black, coiled)
- 4 red caster wheels
- Ziplock bag with all screws and hardware needed for assembly
- Quick-start card (printed, pink/white, showing assembly steps)


Tools required
Section titled “Tools required”- Cordless drill / screwdriver — required to mount the blower module screws
- Scissors or side cutters — to cut the white zip-ties that secure the tank during shipping
Assembly — step by step
Section titled “Assembly — step by step”-
Open the wooden crate
Use a cordless drill (or screwdriver) to remove all screws from the crate lid. Also remove the screws from the center beams. Lift and remove the top and side panels.
The D1 frame (horizontal, with tank still wrapped) is on the wooden pallet inside.

Unpack the accessories box
Locate the cardboard box inside the crate. Open it and lay out all parts: blower module, corrugated tube, power cable, casters, and the ziplock bag with screws.

Tip the frame onto its side to attach the casters
With the frame still horizontal on the pallet, tip it so one side of the base frame is accessible. This makes it easier to attach the wheels without needing to lift the full unit.

Attach the 4 red caster wheels
Take the casters from the accessories box and the screws from the ziplock bag. Screw each caster into the threaded inserts at the 4 corners of the base aluminum profile. Hand-tighten first, then firm up with the drill.

Stand the D1 upright
Once all 4 casters are attached, stand the D1 upright on the casters. It should roll freely on a flat floor.

Cut the white zip-ties from the tank
The cylindrical transparent tank is secured to the frame with white zip-ties for transport. Use scissors or side cutters to cut all of them. Be careful not to scratch the transparent tank.

Mount the red blower module
Retrieve the red blower module. It mounts to the side of the frame next to the tank, using 4 screws from the ziplock bag.
- Position the blower on its bracket against the frame
- Use the cordless drill to drive in all 4 screws
- Be careful not to overtighten — the blower housing is plastic and the tank is nearby

Connect the corrugated outlet tube
Attach the grey corrugated tube to the outlet port of the blower module. Route it toward the G1 hopper inlet. The tube uses a push-fit or friction connection — ensure it seats fully.

Connect the power cable
Plug the black power cable into the D1 power socket (rear or side panel). The other end connects to a standard power outlet.

First power-on
Section titled “First power-on”- Ensure the casters are locked (press the brake lever on the swivel casters)
- Plug the power cable into a wall outlet
- The control panel display on the front will light up
- Set the desired temperature using the control panel buttons
- Set the drying timer if available on your firmware version
- Load pellets into the tank through the top opening
The D1 will begin heating. Allow it to reach the target temperature before trusting the reading — warm-up takes approximately 5–10 minutes.
Connecting to the G1 hopper
Section titled “Connecting to the G1 hopper”The D1 can feed dried pellets directly into the G1 hopper via the corrugated tube:
- Position the D1 beside or behind the G1 printer
- Route the grey corrugated outlet tube from the D1 blower module to the inlet of the G1 hopper system
- Ensure all tube connections are airtight — any gap reduces vacuum efficiency in the G1 feeding system
- If using the D1 as an inline dryer and feeder, the D1 outlet should be at the same height or higher than the hopper inlet
Recommended temperature settings
Section titled “Recommended temperature settings”Use the same settings as for any other pellet dryer. The D1 control panel accepts temperature in degrees Celsius.

Basic maintenance
Section titled “Basic maintenance”- Ventilation grille: keep the rear panel grille clear — do not press the D1 flush against a wall
- Blower motor: if the blower feels hot to the touch (painful to hold briefly), check that the outlet tube is not kinked or blocked
- Tank cleaning: empty the tank fully between materials to avoid cross-contamination
- Screws: check blower mounting screws after the first week of use — vibration can loosen them slightly
