Ginger Slicer — first install

Ginger Slicer is the official slicer for the G1, based on Orca Slicer. It includes pre-configured G1 printer profiles and G1-specific features not available in the standard Orca release.

Download

Go to the Ginger Additive software page:

Download the installer for your operating system:

  • Windows: .exe installer
  • macOS: .dmg package

Install on Windows

  1. Run the downloaded .exe file
  2. Windows may show a security warning (“Unknown publisher”) — click More info → Run anyway
  3. Follow the installation wizard (default settings are fine)
  4. Launch Ginger Slicer from the Start menu or desktop shortcut

Install on macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag Ginger Slicer into the Applications folder
  3. On first launch, macOS may block it: go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway
  4. Launch from Applications

First launch

On first launch, Ginger Slicer opens the welcome/configuration wizard:

  1. Select your printer: choose Ginger Additive G1 from the printer list
  2. Select your nozzle size: match the nozzle currently installed (1, 1.8, 3, 5, or 8 mm)
  3. The wizard creates a default printer profile and a starting material profile

Importing existing profiles from OrcaSlicer

If you were previously using OrcaSlicer, your profiles can be imported:

  1. Open Ginger Slicer
  2. Go to File → Import → Import Configs
  3. Navigate to your OrcaSlicer profile folder
  4. Select the profiles to import

Your existing process and material profiles will appear in Ginger Slicer. You may need to reassign them to the G1 printer profile.

Connecting to the printer

After install, connect Ginger Slicer to the G1 for direct file upload:

  1. In Ginger Slicer, go to Printer settings → Printer host
  2. Set IP address to g1os.local (or the printer’s IP address)
  3. Click Test connection — a green checkmark confirms it’s connected
  4. You can now send prints directly from the slicer without manual file transfer

Bambu Network login (optional)

Ginger Slicer is Orca-based and supports Bambu Network login for multi-machine management. This is optional and not required for G1 printing.

Keeping Ginger Slicer up to date

Ginger Slicer updates are distributed on the same download page. When a new version is available:

  1. Download the new installer
  2. Install over the existing version — profiles and settings are preserved
