Running the G1 in 110V regions (US)

A frequent question from customers in 110V regions (US and similar): “Can we step up to 220 in any way? We can get something that will step up the power.”
The short answer
Section titled “The short answer”The G1 needs a true 220–240V supply — use a split-phase 240V circuit, not a converter.
- A standard US 120V outlet cannot run the G1 (the bed heater alone needs more than a 120V/20A circuit can deliver).
- The correct solution is a split-phase 240V circuit — the type used for electric ovens, dryers, and dishwashers (NEMA 6-20 / 6-30 or similar).
- A cheap step-up / step-down transformer is not a valid solution — the machine needs the full sustained 220–240V supply under load. (This corrected an earlier wiki suggestion.)

Practical steps for a US install
Section titled “Practical steps for a US install”- Find an existing 240V circuit (kitchen / laundry / garage) or have an electrician install one (double-pole 20A or 30A breaker).
- Use the matching 240V plug for the configuration shipped.
- Remember the power box has two mains inputs (main + bed) that can go to two separate lines — useful for splitting the bed-heater load. See Power outlets (power box).
