D1 Dryer
The D1 is the Ginger Additive native pellet dryer, designed specifically for FGF printing with the G1 printer. It is a purpose-built hopper dryer that removes moisture from hygroscopic pellets before printing.

| D1 maintenance | Routine maintenance — cleaning, inspection, blower checks |
Quick overview
Section titled “Quick overview”The D1 is a compact, mobile pellet dryer with a heated cylindrical tank. Key characteristics:
- Compact footprint — fits alongside the G1 in a standard workshop
- Red caster wheels — roll it in and out of position easily
- Transparent cylindrical pellet tank — visible fill level at a glance
- Red blower module — the outlet where dried pellets fall; the G1’s white corrugated tube attaches here and the G1 feeding vacuum draws pellets up to the printer (no gravity feed)
- Front-mounted control panel with display for temperature and timer settings

When you need the D1
Section titled “When you need the D1”Hygroscopic materials must be dried before printing to avoid foaming, stringing, and poor layer adhesion. The D1 is required (or strongly recommended) for:
- PETG / PCTG — absorbs moisture within hours of open-air exposure
- rPLA recycled — recycled grades are often wetter than virgin PLA
- PLA virgin — optional but recommended for long print runs
- PP and specialty materials — consult material-specific notes
Key temperature limits
Section titled “Key temperature limits”| Material | Max dryer temp | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| PETG / PCTG | 65°C max | 3–5 h (up to 24 h for wet batches) |
| rPLA recycled | 55–65°C | 4–6 h |
| PLA virgin | 60–65°C | 2–3 h |
See Dryer for the full temperature table and rationale.
