TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is a flexible, rubber-like material. It comes up regularly in customer conversations, but there is limited confirmed G1 process data so far — treat the settings below as starting points to be validated.

  • Customers ask about printing TPU and about mixing TPU with other pellets (e.g. “can I mix PETG and TPU pellets?”).
  • TPU blended with fillers appears in the wild — e.g. “TPU + tyre rubber powder” (recycled compounds).
  • General expectation from Ginger is that TPU should feed/run smoothly on the screw (“TPU should run smooth”), unlike some abrasive/irregular feedstocks.
  • Flexible feedstock + pellet feeding: very soft pellets can behave differently in the vacuum/hopper path than rigid pellets — watch the Hopper suction problems symptoms.
  • Blends: mixing TPU with PETG or with filler powders changes flow and adhesion — qualify any blend with a test print before committing.
  • Moisture: like most technical polymers, TPU is moisture-sensitive — dry before printing (see Dryer best practices).
