TPU

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is a flexible, rubber-like material. It comes up regularly in customer conversations, but there is limited confirmed G1 process data so far — treat the settings below as starting points to be validated.
What the chats show
Section titled “What the chats show”- Customers ask about printing TPU and about mixing TPU with other pellets (e.g. “can I mix PETG and TPU pellets?”).
- TPU blended with fillers appears in the wild — e.g. “TPU + tyre rubber powder” (recycled compounds).
- General expectation from Ginger is that TPU should feed/run smoothly on the screw (“TPU should run smooth”), unlike some abrasive/irregular feedstocks.
Practical notes
Section titled “Practical notes”- Flexible feedstock + pellet feeding: very soft pellets can behave differently in the vacuum/hopper path than rigid pellets — watch the Hopper suction problems symptoms.
- Blends: mixing TPU with PETG or with filler powders changes flow and adhesion — qualify any blend with a test print before committing.
- Moisture: like most technical polymers, TPU is moisture-sensitive — dry before printing (see Dryer best practices).
