Power supply 24V
The G1 uses an industrial switching power supply to convert mains AC voltage to the 24V DC used by the stepper motors, heaters, fans, and control boards.

Location
Section titled “Location”Inside the power box — the mains enclosure under the panel box on the right side of the machine. The PSU is a metal box with screw terminals. It is not in the panel box behind the display.
How power supply failure shows up

Section titled “Voltage drop under load”The PSU can enter protection mode when a large inductive load (the vacuum pump) starts. Symptoms:
- Random Klipper errors during or just before the vacuum pump starts
- Motors stalling momentarily
- Layer shifts at the moment the vacuum activates
PSU has failed
Section titled “PSU has failed”Symptoms:
- The printer does not turn on at all — the screen stays black (if the PSU is dead, nothing powers up)
- Machine powers on but nothing moves (no voltage on 24V rail)
- Voltmeter reads 0V or < 20V between 24V+ and GND terminals
- PSU emits a brief click on power-on then goes silent (protection mode)
Fix: replace the PSU with an equivalent 24V / 40A+ industrial switching PSU. Contact Ginger Additive support for the correct replacement part.
Total power requirements
Section titled “Total power requirements”The G1 draws significant power — plan circuits accordingly:

US / North America installation
Section titled “US / North America installation”The G1 requires 220–240V, 16A (approximately 3 kW total). Standard US outlets (120V / 15–20A) are insufficient — they provide at most 2.4 kW at 120V/20A, which cannot sustain the bed heater under load.
Required in the US: a split-phase 240V outlet — the same type used by electric ovens, clothes dryers, and dishwashers. This outlet accepts a NEMA 6-20, NEMA 6-30, or similar 240V plug depending on the configuration shipped.
Finding a split-phase outlet:
- Check the kitchen, laundry room, or garage — these almost always have 240V circuits
- If none is available in the installation space, an electrician must install a new 240V circuit from the breaker panel (typically a double-pole 20A or 30A breaker)

Safety

- The PSU capacitors can hold charge for several seconds after power-off — wait before touching terminals
- The 24V rail itself is safe to touch, but the AC input side (mains voltage) is dangerous — do not touch while live
